Bonnie Silverthorn (Smith)

Bonnie J. Smith

Bonnie Smith, 79, passed away with her family by her side after a short illness on September 6, 2025.

Bonnie Silverthorn, who grew up mostly in the Blaine, MI area, graduated from Port Huron High School in 1964 and married the love of her life, James Raymond Smith, that same year. They raised two daughters, Rebecca J Macomber and Debra L Barr in the Sparlingville area. Bonnie's pride and joy were her two grandsons Jayme Macomber and Jeremy Barr.

Bonnie was a homemaker and went to work at Mary Maxim after her daughters were grown. She made many great friends during her years in the packing department there. After retiring from there, she decided to go back to work again where she was a "demo lady" at Sam's Club mostly on weekends. Again, she made many friends and special connections with customers and co-workers. Bonnie loved to decorate her yard and maintain her beautiful flower gardens. Everyone describes Bonnie as caring, generous and would do anything for her family and friends.

Bonnie is survived by her husband James, daughters Rebecca and Debra, grandsons Jayme and Jeremy, a very special step grandson, Kevin Barr, her sister Shirley Evans, brother Milton "Jupe" Silverthorn (Sun), and many nieces and nephews.

In honor of Bonnie's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. The family wishes to thank family, friends, and all of the nurses and doctors at McLaren Port Huron and Flint who cared for her.

Arrangements by Jowett Funeral Home-Port Huron.
