Donald Rock

Donald Walter Rock March 9th, 1946 - February 27th, 2014

Humble, patient, gentle, hard working, brilliant, and funny, Don Rock was a faithful husband, a loving father, a fun grandpa and an eager servant. Though a man of stellar character, he recognized he was a "wretched man" in view of God's holiness. Having been cleansed by Christ he rejoiced that "Amazing grace... saved a wretch like me."

Don was born in Port Huron, Michigan. He joined the Air Force and developed a love for electronics that fueled a career working in seismology and travels to all  continents.  On a trip to Brazil he met Noeme and was married Feb 9th, 1979, making their home in Albuquerque, NM Where he worked for the Albuquerque Seismic Center. In 1983 the family relocated to Tracy, CA for a job at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he retired after 23 years. In retirement, he consulted for Berkeley Labs.

In May 2013 Don and Noeme moved to Camarillo to be near family. Two months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he passed peacefully from this life surrounded by family into the presence of the Lord.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Noeme, and his sons and grandchildren: son and daughter-in-law, Paulo and Jenn Leite of Santa Clarita; son and daughter-in-law, Uel and Amy Leite of Camarillo, and their children Daniel, Lily, Luke, and Samuel. He also leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Geri Rock of Baltimore Maryland, and their family and his sister and brother-in-law Judy and Keith Nash and their family, his sister Dorothy and her family, and his brother Charles.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 8th, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. at Faith Community Church located at 723 South D Street, Oxnard, CA, with Pastor Rick Anderson officiating. If desired and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ventura County Rescue Mission.
