Jim Riddle

August 17, 1946 - April 27, 2022

James David Riddle, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 in his home in Summerville, South Carolina, with his wife Linda by his side.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on May 21, 2022, at Kenney Cemetery, Clyde Township, Michigan. A memorial celebration of life will follow at Colonial Woods Missionary Church.

Jim was born James David Riddle on August 17, 1946, in Midland, Michigan, to James Clifford and Nellie Edith (Howard) Riddle, and grew up in Port Huron, Michigan, graduating from Port Huron High School.

After graduation Jim started his 18-year banking career, advancing from a teller to commercial loan officer. Jim left banking for a career in the treated lumber industry working in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. After moving to Boise, Idaho, in 1996, he decided to work in residential real estate, a career where clients quickly became his friends.

Jim met his wife Linda in Toledo, Ohio, and they were married in 1987 bringing together their two families. When Jim retired in 2019, he and Linda moved to South Carolina, where they could enjoy their favorite beach. Jim enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His favorite activities included sailing, going to the beach, working in the yard, woodworking and taking long walks with Linda. Jim loved deeply and was intensely committed to relationships even during the tough times. He had an open and welcoming personality that saw everyone he met as a friend. Jim had a passion for life, a warm smile and a quick sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by the many wonderful family and friends who loved him.

Jim accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at Happy Time Bible Camp and served the Lord faithfully throughout his life. Though we mourn our loss, we know Jim is now rejoicing in the presence of his Lord, and we are assured we will see him again one day.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Linda, of Summerville, SC; his son Scott Riddle of Las Vegas, Nevada; his step-children Gary (Laurie) Spencer of Boise, Idaho, Craig Spencer of Nampa, Idaho, Angela (Tony) Ares of Emmett, Idaho; his siblings Richard (Maryann) Riddle of Rancho Mission Viejo, California, and Marilyn Woolley of Snohomish, Washington; seven grandchildren Kali (Thomas) Brown, Blake Ares, Grace Ares, Ally Ares, Adrian Spencer, Allie Dyer and Kayla Brown; three adorable great-grandchildren Emma, Oliver and Logyn; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by his twin sister (his wombmate) Jane Simpson, his son Matthew Riddle; and grandson, Anthony Ares.

Memorials are suggested in Jim’s honor to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. (billygraham.org/give/other-ways-to-give)
