Melvin Ostrander

Melvin F. Ostrander, 68, of Port Huron, passed away on May 21, 2014 in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born on June 19, 1945 in Port Huron, son of the late Richard and Ilene Ostrander.

Melvin married Terryl A. Saunby on May 8, 1965 in Milan, Ill. She passed away on April 19, 2004.

He was a cement mason for international and local unions. Melvin was also a member of the Eagles and a former member of the Elks.

Melvin is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey & Mary Jo Ostrander of Port Huron Twp.; son, Ricky Ostrander of Port Huron; daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Corey Zayas of Port Huron; eight grandchildren: Ashley, Jessica, Austin, Autumn, Ricky Jr., Zachary, Tyler and Mikayla; sister and brother-in-law, Joann (Eugene) Lozano of Port Huron; a special friend, Sharon DeLano of Port Huron and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael in May 1996, two brothers, Ricky and Jim Ostrander and a sister, Verna Morley.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th Street, Port Huron. The Rev. Max Amstutz will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Zachary Zayas, Tyler Zayas, Ricky "RJ" Ostrander, Terry Lozano, Pat Lozano and Gene Lozano.
