Robert (Alan) Ludwig, age 65 of Durand, passed away Sunday morning, January 29, 2012 at Durand Senior Care and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 1, 2012 at 11:00 am at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Durand. Pastor Paul Olson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Alan was born in Lansing, MI on June 25, 1946, the son of Claud Almeron & Eleanor Louise (Bowmann) Ludwig. He served his country in the Navy during the Viet Nam War. He then graduated from the University of Michigan. On May 8, 1971 he married Susan D. Srb in Ann Arbor, MI. He was a member of the United Methodist Men, Michigan Sportsman Against Hunger and a Deacon at the Tabernacle of Hope Church in Bancroft. He worked for the State of Michigan as a toxicologist, retiring in 2001. Alan is survived by his wife, Susan, son Jeffrey Aaron (Libby) Ludwig of Nicholasville, KY, grandson Harmon (Alex) Ludwig, brothers Andrew (Chris) Ludwig of Nathrop, CO, Craig Ludwig of Maryland, sisters Christine (Paul) Schaub of Saginaw and Susan J. Ludwig and her husband Stephen Kempski of Saginaw, his mother Doris Ludwig of Saginaw. He was predeceased by his parents. Memorials are suggested to the Tabernacle of Hope Church at 6285 Bancroft Rd.
