Ruth Dorothea Kish, 71, of Port Huron, formerly of Cleveland, Tennessee, died Wednesday, August 30, 2017.

She was born March 16, 1946 in Detroit to the late Donald and Dorothy Flaherty.

Ruth was a bus driver for 13 years and custodian for seven years for the Port Huron Area Schools, retiring in 2001. Earlier in her career, she was a beautician and owned Kish’s Korner. Ruth was very creative, enjoying arts & crafts, crocheting, gardening, cooking and baking. She was a Jeopardy wiz, loved crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. She was a faithful woman who attended Hillside Wesleyan Church and most recently Blue Water Free Methodist Church. A highlight of her life was a mission trip to Honduras to build a church. The loves of Ruth’s life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Maureen Kish and Denise Kish; four grandchildren, Brandon (Jennifer Noth) Wright, Tyeler Wright, Lynnette Morgan (fiancé Eric Zells), and Danielle Ross; four great grandchildren, Kiera, Logan and Christopher Ross and Delilah Brenske; a sister, Alice Shafer; and two sisters-in-law, Hannah Flaherty and Carlieta Flaherty. She was preceded in death by a son, Joe Kish; a granddaughter, Alicia Morgan; two brothers, John “Paul” and Sam Flaherty; and a sister, Jeanne Zapata (Karl Bell).

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2017 in Blue Water Free Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Randy Bennett will officiate.
