Michael O. Aikman, 70, of Marysville, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 in Blue Water Hospice Home following an illness of 6 months. Born October 17, 1946, he was the son of Earl and Pauline Aikman.

Michael attended the Port Huron schools graduating from Port Huron High School in 1964. He then attended Port Huron Jr. College before transferring to Western Michigan University where he graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1972 serving in Vietnam in 1970. He then went to work at Mueller Brass Co. retiring as Comptroller in April, 2015 after 42 years of service.

Michael was President and Treasurer of the St. Clair River Condominium Association over 20 years. He also volunteered with the Big Brothers-Big Sisters organization for many years. He always reached out to the less fortunate in the community.

Michael is survived by his sister, Patti (John) Farough of Lexington, MI; two nieces, Christine (Ryan) Thomas of Plymouth, MI and Jennifer Farough of Wixon, MI; two great nephews, Jack & Drew Thomas; a great niece, Allison Thomas, and an aunt, Wanda Wirtz of Port Huron.

A service in Michael’s memory will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Smith Family Funeral Home – North, 1525 Hancock Street. Visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. till time of the service. The Rev. Max Amstutz will officiate. Private interment will take place in Lakeside Cemetery.
