George Lapp

George N. Lapp, beloved husband and father, passed away Wednesday evening March 8, 2006 at Covenant Medical Centr.  He was born May 11, 1945 in Cadillac MI to Walter R. and Elvera A. Lapp. He served in the Navy from 1966 to 1969 with an Honoable discharge, spending one year aboard the USS Northhampton.  He married Kay Ellen Gardner, May 15, 1976 in Port Huron, MI.  He graduated from Delta College in 1983 with an Associate Degree in Engineering.  He attended St. Clair County Community College and Saginaw Valley State University. He obtained certification from the Michigan Concrete Association in 1997 as a Field Testing Technician.  He was employed by PSI Engineering and Consulting as a Field Technician. George enjoyed woodworking, politics, history and was an avid science fiction fan.  He helped oganize the Zilwaukee Bridge Walk in 2004.  He was a member of the National Rifile Association.  He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kay and their daughter Alexandra Lapp, Petoskey, MI.; his mother-in-law Jane Gardiner, Marysville, nieces Rebecca Watson and Ruth Lapp, treasured family friends Nancy Gross and her children, and Julie Walters whom he regarded as his "other daughter".  He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Calvin W. Lapp and his father-in-law Bill Gardner.  The family extends heartfelt thanks to their Covenant family, especially the Risk Management Dept. for their support and prayers.  The family also wishes to thank Covenant 7 Main Harrison, Covenant Hospitalists and all the departments and physicians involved in George's care.
