Local Woman Dies From Injuries

A Port Huron woman injured in a van-truck accident Jan. 29 has become the city's first traffic fatality of 1987.  Ellen Jean Goodwine, 41, of 4971 Iroquois Trail, died Tuesday in Detroit Receiving Hospital from the injuries she suffered in the accident.  The accident occurred when a van driven by Goodwine, and a tractor-trailer loaded with dirt collided at 16th and Beard streets in Port Huron.  The truck driver, Michael J. Hill, 33, of 5514 State Road, Fort Gratiot Twp., was treated for injuries and released.  Hill was driving north on 16th St. when Mrs. Goodwine pulled out from a stop sign at Beard Street into his truck's path, said Patrolman Thomas Shay, Port Huron Police. 

Ellen J. Goodwine, 41, of 4971 Iroquois Tr., died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 1987, in Detroit Receiving Hospital.  She was born Jan. 6, 1946, in Port Huron, and was a lifelong resident.  She married Wayne C. Goodwine, August 26, 1967, in Port Huron.  Mrs. Goodwine was employed by the PHASD in the food service department. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 170.  She is survived by her husband; one son Wayne Charles Goodwine; two daughters, Wendy J. and Melissa L. Goodwine; her parents, Stewart and Gloria Anderson; brother Gary J. Anderson; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and LaCinda Anderson, all of Port Huron; three sisters, Mrs. John (Bonnie) Kovach, Jeddo; Mrs. Robert (Janice S.) Bower, Port Huron; and Mrs. Larry (Cathy L.) VanBeek, Goodells; and mother-in-law, Margaret Goodwine, Port Huron.
